4 Ways to Market Yourself Online

Online marketing is a good buzzword for what most agents see as a free and easy channel for them to market themselves or their brand online. When you actually sit down and approach social media and marketing tactics, there's a ton of steps that need to be completed before your content can reach the people you want to most. Building a following and viewership is no simple task. Creating content that your specific audience wants to read and genuinely finds useful is your key to successful online marketing. Below are some tips to help you get started on the long journey of marketing yourself online.

  1. Make sure your information is correct and posted everywhere where you appear online.

It seems obvious but if people can’t find your contact info and then be able to communicate with you that’s a real problem. All photos need to look professional and friendly, nothing taken with a snap and go camera. The photo should say something about yourself and your character. And make sure you respond to people on these sites in a timely manner!

  2. Create an excellent bio for yourself.

This is one way to let your personality shine to a potential client. Better yet, make it a video describing who you are and why you got into real estate! People love to see a short, well shot video about you and your service (less to read). And the video can be shared everywhere for free!

  3. Blogs blogs blogs.

Blogs are bits of information from you about anything. As a Realtor® you should be blogging about the latest trends and news. As you share these blogs with more people on different social media sites, you seem like the local expert in your community. Photos are great but videos work best because it puts a face and voice to your words where people can more easily see and feel who you are. Social media sharing sites like FaceBook in particular, loves native video that you upload to its servers. Make sure you have social sharing buttons to make the process of spreading your message simple and pain-free. Community events, market and news updates, trends and opinions, all of these are potential candidates for a video/photo/written blog. (Create evergreen content like top 10 or best of the best that isn’t time sensitive or will expire easily. This content only has to be made once and can be reused or recycled in some way later on.)

  4. Create eBooks for specific things.

This is labor intensive because it requires infographics, hard data, and time. They preform well and allow users to get the best of your content in long-form. Offer this as freemium content, once people have submitted name and email addresses, you can provide them with useful information.

Play your strengths in your real estate voice. If you are someone who prefers comedy and humor, let that show across your work and blogs. People want to know who you are as a person as well as an agent. Hobbies, personal life, goals is all welcome for content. Be authentic. Get out there and get in front of people. Get involved with your community and start writing/videoing about all of it. The market, the homes, the trends, things to do, things to eat, all of it. This will teach you about your area, introduce you to the community and get them to know you.

All of these tips and tricks should propel your real estate and marketing both online and in person. Your online presence should only be an extension of your in person marketing.
